Good News for Social Security Disability Beneficiaries: Telehealth May Be Here to Stay
Two new bills that have recently been introduced in Congress plan to expand accessibility to telehealth, making this a permanent feature. If you are a Social Security disability beneficiary, who also currently accesses Medicare, your accessibility to telehealth will likely continue, and possibly even become permanent.
The use of telehealth has boomed during the pandemic, and was a boon for so many disability beneficiaries last year. For many, telehealth was the only way they could connect with their healthcare providers, and access the medical treatment they needed for their conditions. Many beneficiaries have been concerned about their access to such convenient healthcare services as we emerge from the pandemic.
Two new bills have recently been introduced – one in the US Senate and the other in the House – and both of them are focused on making telehealth a permanent option for beneficiaries of both Medicare and Medicaid.
