The Social Security administration has launched an online tool that is meant to help people who receive Social Security benefits to view their statements. The Social Security Statement tool allows you to access information if you can create a Social Security Account. You can create this online account at the Social Security Administration website
If you have a Social Security Account, you can log in to estimate the kind of benefits that you are eligible for, including disability, retirement and survivor benefits. You can also use the Statement to estimate the benefits that you and your family are eligible for, and also to access your lifetime Social Security earnings as per federal records.
The statement can also be used to check up on Medicare and Social Security taxes that have been paid. You can use the tool for accessing general information that includes information on applying for disability benefits, and signing up for Medicare. The statement can be printed.
In order to access the online account, you must be above the age of 18, have a mailing address inside the United States, must possess a Social Security number, and must have a valid e-mail ID.
In fact, Social Security disability lawyers highly recommend that you view your statement at least once every year to make sure that all the information that is on your file, is accurate. In addition, you can also make use of the statement to calculate your benefits at the time of retirement using the Retirement Estimator. If you notice any errors in your statement, you can contact Social Security or visit your local Social Security office.
